Standing with the ability , and the evidence is the Almighty’s saying: {Guard the prayers and the middle prayer and stand before God in obedience} [Al-Baqarah: 238]. According to the words of God Almighty: {And stand obedient to God} [Al-Baqarah: 238], and when it was proven from him, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, that he said to Imran bin Husayn, may God be pleased with him: “Pray standing, and if you are unable, then sitting, and if you are unable, then on your side,” and because it was proven from him. May God’s prayers and peace be upon him also that he used to pray standing and say: “Pray as you have seen me praying,” and he did not pray sitting except when incapacitated. It is obligatory for all obligated men and women to pray standing with the ability in the obligatory prayer. However, in the case of incapacity due to illness or old age, there is no harm in praying. He prays sitting, and we do not know of any disagreement among scholars about this.
